About UUID v4
UUID v4 (Universally Unique Identifier version 4) uses 122 bits of cryptographically random data. The format is xxxxxxxx-xxxx-4xxx-yxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx, where 4 denotes version 4 and y is one of 8, 9, a, or b (variant bits).
The probability of a collision is negligibly small — approximately 1 in 5.3 × 10³⁶. UUID v4 is defined by RFC 4122 and is widely used as unique identifiers for databases, APIs, and distributed systems.
